Our verdict
FxPro earns its place if you automate. cTrader with cBots, MT5 with expert advisors, TradingView for order entry from your own charts and a Raw+ account that prices honestly at USD 3.50 per side is a strong toolkit for systematic FX and index traders, backed by an FCA licence that many competitors of this size do not hold. Execution quality on larger orders is a repeated strength in independent testing.
It is the wrong choice for two groups. First, anyone who wants to own assets: everything here is a CFD, including shares and ETFs, so there is no settlement, no dividend as a shareholder and no transfer out. Second, anyone chasing the cheapest all-in cost — the Standard account at roughly 1.4 pips on EUR/USD is noticeably above a good raw-spread rival, and the inactivity regime starts at six months with a USD 15 charge followed by USD 5 a month, which is early by industry standards. Education is also thinner than the beginner-focused brokers, so if you are starting from zero you will learn faster elsewhere.
Best for
- Algorithmic traders
- cTrader users
- Active FX traders
- High-volume trading
- Multi-platform setups
Less suitable for
- Absolute beginners
- Long-term investors
- Cost-led scalpers on the Standard account
- Dormant accounts
Pros & cons
Pros
7- FCA authorisation under firm reference 509956 with FSCS cover to GBP 85,000, plus a CySEC licence (078/07) for EU clients with EUR 20,000 ICF cover.
- Five trading platforms — cTrader, MT4, MT5, TradingView and FxPro Edge — which is more genuine choice than almost any comparable CFD broker offers.
- cTrader support is first-class: Level II depth of market, C# cBots and an execution model that shows you the commission instead of burying it in the spread.
- Raw+ and cTrader accounts charge USD 3.50 per lot per side (USD 7.00 round turn) on FX and metals — transparent, and competitive with the raw-spread mainstream.
- More than 2,100 instruments including roughly 2,000 share CFDs, 70 FX pairs, 28 crypto CFDs and CFDs on energy and agricultural futures.
- Eight base currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, JPY, PLN, AUD, ZAR) and twelve funding routes including PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and crypto, with no fees charged by FxPro.
- Support is 24/5 in a dozen languages and reachable by WhatsApp and Telegram as well as the usual phone, email and chat.
Cons
6- The Standard account is not cheap: EUR/USD averages around 1.4 pips with independent measurements running as high as 1.6, well above a raw-spread account's all-in cost.
- Inactivity charges start early — a one-off USD 15 after six months, then USD 5 every month the account stays dormant and funded.
- Everything is a CFD. There are no real shares, no ETFs you can hold, no bonds and no exchange-listed futures — only derivatives with overnight financing attached.
- Education is the weakest dimension: adequate video and article material, but well behind brokers that treat beginner training as a product.
- FxPro Edge, the proprietary platform, has no mobile version, so the mobile experience falls back to a comparatively basic app.
- The offshore Bahamas entity offers much higher leverage than the FCA and CySEC books, which means the protections you get depend heavily on which entity onboards you.

Full review: FxPro
Fees and what they cost in practice
FxPro splits its pricing into two philosophies and the difference matters more than the headline numbers.
Standard (MT4/MT5) is spread-only with no commission. EUR/USD averages roughly 1.4 pips, with independent measurement putting it as high as 1.6 in some conditions. On a one-lot round turn that is about USD 14–16.
Raw+ and cTrader invert the model: raw spreads that can print at 0.0 pips, plus a commission of USD 3.50 per lot per side — USD 7.00 round turn on FX and metals. With EUR/USD raw spreads averaging around 0.6 pips, the all-in cost lands near 1.3 pips, or roughly USD 13 per lot round turn.
So Raw+ is cheaper, but not dramatically — and that is the honest summary of FxPro's fee position. This is mid-table pricing for a broker with an FCA licence and institutional-grade execution. You are neither being gouged nor getting a bargain.
Other costs to plan for:
- Inactivity: USD 15 one-off after six months of no activity, then USD 5 per month. Early by industry standards.
- Swap: overnight financing on every leveraged position, in both directions.
- Deposits and withdrawals: free from FxPro, though a dormant account can attract a payment-provider charge on withdrawal.
Safety and regulation
FxPro runs a four-entity structure — three of them with a live licence — and the entity that onboards you determines nearly everything about your protection.
- FxPro UK Limited — FCA firm reference 509956. Clients of this entity are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to GBP 85,000 per person if the firm fails.
- FxPro Financial Services Ltd — CySEC licence 078/07, the entity most EU clients face. Cover comes from the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund, capped at EUR 20,000.
- FxPro Financial Services Ltd (South Africa) — FSCA FSP 45052, but the FAIS register shows this registration as lapsed and a name search returns no active FxPro provider in South Africa. It confers no supervision or client protection today and should not be counted as a licence.
- FxPro Global Markets Ltd — Securities Commission of The Bahamas, SIA-F184. This is the offshore book with the higher leverage and the thinnest statutory protection.
The FCA licence is the genuine credential. It brings client-money segregation under CASS rules, negative balance protection for retail clients, mandatory reporting and a hard 1:30 leverage cap on major FX. FxPro has traded since 2006 without a headline regulatory failure, files audited accounts, and is a Financial Commission member.
No broker can be called guaranteed safe. What can be verified here is a top-tier licence, segregated client money, negative balance protection and two decades of continuous operation. What deserves attention is the gap between entities: the Bahamas book is a materially different proposition from the UK one, and the leverage figure in a marketing banner may not be the one your account gets — or the protection you want.
Trading platforms
Platform choice is FxPro's clearest advantage, and it is not padding — each option is fully supported rather than nominally available.
cTrader is the reason a lot of people are here. It shows Level II depth of market, executes on a transparent commission model rather than a marked-up spread, and runs cBots written in C#, which is a far more comfortable environment than MQL for anyone with a software background. cTrader Copy and cTrader Automate are both live.
MetaTrader 5 brings depth of market, more timeframes, more order types and a strategy tester that is genuinely usable for optimisation. MetaTrader 4 remains available for the vast catalogue of MQL4 expert advisors that never made the jump.
TradingView integration lets you place orders straight from TradingView's charts. If your analysis already lives there, this removes a whole class of transcription error.
FxPro Edge is the in-house browser platform: more than 50 indicators, several chart types and a clean order ticket. Its one real flaw is that there is no mobile build, so the phone experience drops back to the standard FxPro app — capable for managing positions, but not a replacement for Edge or cTrader.
Execution is a repeated strength in independent testing, particularly on larger orders where slippage is where costs actually live.
Markets and products
FxPro publishes a figure of more than 2,100 instruments, and independent counts have run slightly higher. The breakdown:
- Forex: roughly 70 pairs, majors through exotics.
- Share CFDs: around 2,000 single names across US, UK and European listings — by far the largest slice of the catalogue.
- Crypto CFDs: 28 instruments.
- Indices: 18 spot index CFDs.
- Metals and energies: spot gold, silver and the main energy contracts.
- Futures CFDs: CFDs on energy, agricultural and index futures, subject to rollover.
The number to hold on to is that all of it is a contract for difference. There is no settlement, no custody, no share register. A share CFD gives you leveraged price exposure and a financing charge for every night you hold it; it does not make you a shareholder. That is fine for a two-week momentum trade and wrong for a five-year holding.
There are also no exchange-listed futures, no options, no bonds and no mutual funds. FxPro is a CFD and FX house that has stayed inside its lane — which is a reasonable strategy, but it means it cannot be the only broker in a portfolio that includes long-term investments.
Account opening and funding
The application takes about five minutes and verification is typically cleared inside 24 hours. The minimum deposit is USD 100, with the Raw+ account historically requiring more — worth confirming at signup, because published thresholds have moved.
Eight base currencies are available: USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, JPY, PLN, AUD and ZAR, with additional local currencies in some markets. Match your account currency to your bank account and you avoid a conversion cost on every deposit and withdrawal.
Funding routes are unusually broad — around twelve options covering Visa and Mastercard, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, domestic and international bank transfer, broker-to-broker transfer and cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, USDT). FxPro charges no deposit or withdrawal fees. Cards, e-wallets and crypto typically clear in 10 to 60 minutes; bank transfers take one to five business days.
Withdrawals are processed the same day where possible. Domestic bank transfers take up to two business days, international transfers three to five, and card refunds can take up to ten business days once the card network is involved. One caveat worth knowing before you fund: withdrawing from an account that has never traded can attract a payment-provider charge, which is FxPro passing through the cost of a round trip that generated no revenue.
Research and education
This is FxPro's weakest area, and it is a deliberate consequence of who the broker targets. The client base skews experienced and systematic, so resources go into execution and platforms rather than teaching.
Research is solid without being distinctive: daily technical and fundamental commentary on the major pairs and indices, an economic calendar, market news and a set of trading tools including a currency calculator, pip calculator and swap tables. There is also periodic analysis on the larger share CFDs. What is missing is depth — no proprietary equity research desk, no screener that would help you originate an idea, no analyst consensus data. If your process depends on someone else's research, you will end up subscribing to a third-party service alongside the account.
Education covers the basics competently: video tutorials, webinars, ebooks and a course on trader psychology that is better than the genre usually manages. But it is thin against brokers that treat education as a product line, and independent reviewers consistently mark FxPro down here.
The demo account is unlimited in the sense that matters — you can forward-test a cBot or an expert advisor for as long as you need, which for a systematic trader is worth considerably more than another beginners' webinar series.
Customer support
Support runs 24 hours a day, five days a week, and FxPro covers more channels than most: phone, email, live chat, WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook Messenger. Being able to resolve a margin question over WhatsApp instead of waiting on a chat queue is a real convenience, and the messaging channels are staffed rather than bot-only.
Language coverage runs to a dozen, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Polish, Czech and Greek, with local phone numbers across the main markets. For DACH clients, German-language support is properly resourced.
Quality is generally rated as competent and quick, with the usual caveat that platform-specific questions — cBot behaviour, an MT5 strategy tester quirk — sometimes need escalation past the first line. Response quality on account, funding and margin questions is consistently better than on technical platform questions.
The structural gaps are the familiar ones. There is no weekend cover, which matters for crypto CFD positions that keep moving on a Saturday. And because FxPro operates four entities, the answer to a question about leverage, protection or product availability depends on which one holds your account — worth stating explicitly at the start of any conversation. Complaints escalate through the process of your regulating entity: the Financial Ombudsman Service for FCA clients, the Cypriot Financial Ombudsman for CySEC clients.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. FxPro UK Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference 509956, and clients of that entity are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to GBP 85,000 if the firm fails. EU clients are onboarded by FxPro Financial Services Ltd under CySEC licence 078/07, where the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund caps cover at EUR 20,000. There is also a South African entity whose FSCA registration has lapsed, and a Bahamas entity with higher leverage and thinner statutory protection.
Raw+ or cTrader, in most cases. Those accounts price raw spreads — often 0.0 to 0.6 pips on EUR/USD — plus a commission of USD 3.50 per lot per side, giving an all-in cost near 1.3 pips. The Standard account has no commission but averages around 1.4 pips on EUR/USD. If you trade meaningful volume, the commission model wins; the commission is charged per lot, so the same small edge holds on large and small orders alike.
Yes, and it starts earlier than most. After six months without activity FxPro applies a one-off USD 15 account maintenance charge, then USD 5 per month for as long as the account stays dormant and funded. If you are stepping away from trading, withdraw the balance rather than leaving it to be eroded.
No. FxPro offers around 2,000 share CFDs, but they are derivatives. You get leveraged price exposure and pay overnight financing to hold; you do not own the security, do not appear on the share register and cannot transfer the position to a custody broker. For long-term equity holdings you need a broker that settles real shares.
Five: cTrader, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView and the proprietary FxPro Edge web platform, plus the FxPro mobile app. cTrader is the strongest of the group for anyone who automates — Level II depth of market, transparent commission pricing and cBots written in C#. Edge is the one gap, because it has no mobile build.
It depends entirely on which entity holds your account. FCA and CySEC retail clients are capped at 1:30 on major FX, with lower caps on indices, commodities, shares and crypto, in line with UK and EU rules. Professional clients and clients onboarded by the Bahamas entity can reach 1:500. Higher leverage also means giving up retail protections, so treat the advertised maximum as an entity question, not a product feature.
