A promotion is never a reason to pick a broker.

A bonus is credited once. An FX markup, an inactivity fee or an unnecessarily wide spread are paid on every order, every year, for as long as you stay. Decide on running costs. And if the broker that fits you anyway happens to run a promotion — all the better.

A bonus lands exactly once. One percentage point of conversion markup lands on every foreign-currency order, year after year.

The core selection now covers every ETF, ETC and ETN listed on Tradegate, with no commission and none of the former conditions — DEGIRO has abolished the fair-use policy, the minimum order size and the same-direction rule. What remains is the EUR 1.00 processing fee per order: not an exchange fee but DEGIRO's own charge for clearing, settlement and regulatory costs. It applies to essentially every order, and failing to make that clear is what BaFin fined the bank for in 2025.
