Our verdict
justTRADE is a narrow product executed with some care. If you are a German citizen resident in Germany, trade German-listed stocks and ETFs a few times a month, want a crypto wallet in the same login, and value being shown three competing quotes before you commit, it is a reasonable and cheap home. Custody is free, savings plans are free, the tax handling is fully automatic, and Sutor Bank's banking licence puts cash under the statutory EUR 100,000 guarantee. But the gaps are real and they are structural, not cosmetic. You cannot transfer an existing portfolio in. You cannot buy individual bonds, mutual funds, French, Italian, Spanish or Greek shares. There is no telephone number and no chat - support is email only. Uninvested cash earns 0.00%. And the headline claim of 'ab 0 EUR Orderprovision' still on the homepage is no longer what the price list says for shares. Finanztip dropped justTRADE from its recommended list in mid-2025 on breadth of service, and that call looks right: for most people, a broker on Baader Bank rails with the same zero-fee promise and a genuine transfer-in path is the better choice.
Best for
- German-resident cost-conscious buy-and-hold investors
- Investors who want shares, ETFs and real crypto in one login
- Certificate and warrant traders using the Gold partners
- Small savings-plan investors from EUR 25 a month
Less suitable for
- Anyone without German citizenship
- Investors switching from another broker with an existing portfolio
- Bond and mutual fund investors
- Anyone who wants to phone their broker
Pros & cons
Pros
8- Three competing exchange venues (LS Exchange, Quotrix, Tradegate BSX) with a quote-request order that executes at exactly the price you confirmed - no market orders, no execution surprises
- EUR 1.00 per stock or ETF order at LS Exchange and Tradegate BSX, with no minimum order value: you can buy a single share
- No custody fee, no account fee, no inactivity fee, no charge for dividends, corporate actions or transfers out
- Savings plans on ETFs, ETCs, commodities, crypto and wikifolios cost EUR 0 order commission from EUR 25 a month
- Real spot crypto in the same account - 65+ coins held by BaFin-supervised Tangany GmbH in Germany, tradable 24/7 from EUR 25 at 0.125%
- Sutor Bank (founded 1921) holds the banking licence, so cash falls under the statutory EUR 100,000 guarantee plus the private banks' voluntary fund
- Full German tax agency: Abgeltungsteuer and church tax withheld automatically, FIFO cost basis, free annual tax certificate and loss certificate
- About 1.75 million certificates and warrants from seven issuers, with EUR 0 commission at the four Gold partners
Cons
6- Account opening requires German citizenship AND German tax residence - a residence permit is explicitly not sufficient, which excludes a large share of German residents
- You cannot transfer an existing securities portfolio into justTRADE. Incoming Depotuebertraege are not supported at all, so switching means selling and realising tax
- The public marketing still says 'ab 0 EUR Orderprovision' while the 08.06.2026 price list charges EUR 2.90 as standard and EUR 1.00 at two venues - the cheapest German neobrokers are now cheaper on the same order
- Support is email only: no telephone hotline, no live chat, German only
- No individual bonds, no mutual funds, and French, Italian, Spanish and Greek shares (plus their ADRs) are untradable because of local financial transaction taxes
- Uninvested cash pays 0.00% p.a. while a tolerated overdraft costs 9.00% p.a.; the broker's answer is to sell you money-market ETFs instead

| Stocks (per order) | €1 | Price list of 08.06.2026: the standard order commission on stocks, ETFs, ETCs and other ETPs is EUR 2.90. Two of the three venues rebate it down to EUR 1.00 - LS Exchange and Tradegate BSX. Routing the same order to Quotrix costs the full EUR 2.90. There is no minimum order value; you can buy a single share. A trading-venue spread applies on top and is the larger cost on most retail orders. |
| US stocks | €1 | US shares are traded on the same three German venues in euros, on the same EUR 1.00 / EUR 2.90 schedule. Cash on the justTRADE clearing account sits at Sutor Bank, which holds a full German banking licence, so the statutory guarantee covers EUR 100,000 per client. Sutor Bank is additionally a voluntary member of the Einlagensicherungsfonds of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken; justTRADE states this covers deposits up to a further EUR 1.3 million on top of the statutory EUR 100,000. Securities are client property held in custody and are handed back rather than compensated in an insolvency; where delivery fails the German investor compensation scheme pays 90% of the claim up to EUR 20,000.

Coins bought through justTRADE are held by Tangany GmbH under a separate no-fee custody agreement. Tangany is BaFin-supervised, but no compensation scheme covers crypto: if the custodian fails, recovery depends entirely on segregation and insolvency law.
Recorded regulatory actions
2025 · BaFin€702,500
BaFin imposed fines totalling EUR 702,500 on Sutor Bank GmbH on 3 July 2025, published on 19 August 2025, for breaches of the WpHG in its Riester business and in informing clients about telephone recording. The matter concerns the bank's legacy Riester book rather than the justTRADE brokerage account, and the publication does not state whether the decision is final — but Sutor Bank is the regulatory foundation this record relies on, so its only published supervisory measure belongs here.
Regulation and investor compensation reduce risk, they do not remove it. No broker is guaranteed safe.

Full review: justTRADE
Fees: what justTRADE actually costs in 2026
justTRADE's own price list, dated 08.06.2026, is short and worth reading literally, because the marketing site is out of step with it.
Shares, ETFs, ETCs and other ETPs carry an order commission of EUR 2.90. Some venues pay the bank a rebate, which reduces the charge to EUR 1.00 at LS Exchange and Tradegate BSX. The third venue, Quotrix, does not rebate, so the same order there costs EUR 2.90. There is no minimum order value - one share is a valid order.
Certificates and warrants are priced as EUR 2.90 plus 0.5% of order value, then reduced by the issuer's inducement: EUR 0.00 with the Gold partners (J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Vontobel) and EUR 2.00 with the Silver partners (DZ Bank, Societe Generale). Minimum order EUR 500. Routing a certificate to Boerse Stuttgart instead adds EUR 1.90 of passed-through third-party cost plus the exchange's transaction fee.
Crypto costs 0.125% of order value plus the venue spread, minimum order EUR 25, with no network fees.
Savings plans on ETFs, ETCs, ETPs and certificates cost EUR 0, from EUR 25 a month, executed on LS Exchange.
Everything structural is free: custody, the clearing account, dividends, corporate actions, subscription rights, redemption of maturing paper, transfers out to another bank, the annual tax certificate and the loss certificate. The charges that do exist are edge cases - EUR 15 to exercise or convert a warrant on request, EUR 10 per duplicate document, EUR 25 for an AGM ticket, EUR 25 for an address trace, and 0.03% per month to store Xetra Gold.
Two costs deserve more attention than the commission. The first is the trading-venue spread, which justTRADE quite openly says is the real price of a trade - on a EUR 2,000 order in a mid-cap it will usually dwarf the EUR 1.00 commission. The second is the 0.00% p.a. credit interest on the clearing account, against 9.00% p.a. on a tolerated overdraft.
Safety, regulation and who actually holds your money
justTRADE is a brand, not a bank. JT Technologies GmbH (Hamburger Allee 14, 60486 Frankfurt am Main, HRB 112915) runs the app, the website and the customer relationship. Every activity that needs a licence - taking deposits and executing securities orders - is performed by Sutor Bank GmbH, Hermannstrasse 46, 20095 Hamburg, HRB 178357, a BaFin-supervised German private bank founded in 1921.
That structure is the main safety argument. Because Sutor Bank holds a full banking licence:
- Cash on your clearing account is covered by the statutory German deposit guarantee up to EUR 100,000 per client.
- Sutor Bank is a member of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken and of its voluntary Einlagensicherungsfonds; justTRADE states this covers deposits up to a further EUR 1.3 million on top of the statutory EUR 100,000 — its own words are "zusätzlich", and the sentence is about cash on the settlement account, not about securities. It does not say "per client"; that qualifier was ours. Treat the voluntary layer as an additional cushion whose ceiling is a function of the bank's own funds and has been stepped down under the fund's reform, not as a fixed promise.
- Securities are client property in custody, not bank assets. In an insolvency they are handed back rather than compensated. Only if delivery failed would the German investor compensation scheme apply, at 90% of the claim up to EUR 20,000.
Crypto sits outside all of this. Coins are held by Tangany GmbH in Munich under a separate, unpaid custody agreement. Tangany is BaFin-supervised for crypto custody, but no deposit guarantee and no investor compensation scheme covers crypto assets anywhere in the EU. That is not a justTRADE failing - it is the state of the law - but it should change how you size a crypto position.
The structural weaknesses worth naming: JT Technologies is a small privately held company with no public financial statements, there is no public listing to force disclosure, and the whole proposition depends on one partner bank. Nothing here is a guarantee of safety; it is a description of how the protections are layered.
Platforms and how orders actually work
There are three ways in: the mobile app (iOS and Android), the web platform, and stock3, the professional analysis terminal formerly called Guidants, which can route orders directly into a justTRADE account.
The app is the centre of gravity and the better product. It carries free real-time push prices for all nine trading destinations, the full order ticket, watchlists and charts. German App Store ratings sit at roughly 4.1 out of 5 across about 1,000 ratings as of August 2026 - decent, not outstanding. The web platform is a split-screen layout with the same data; competent, visually dated, and clearly the secondary surface.
The interesting design decision is the quote-request order, which justTRADE also calls live trading. Instead of sending a market order into the book, you ask the venue for a firm price, it holds that price for a few seconds, and you either confirm it or you do not. justTRADE offers seven order types and, notably, no market order at all. That is unusual and defensible: it removes the single most common way retail investors get a bad fill, at the cost of an extra tap and of not being able to guarantee execution in a fast market.
The second design decision follows from it. Because the same share is quoted at LS Exchange, Quotrix and Tradegate BSX, you see three live prices side by side and the best one is flagged in the interface. justTRADE claims an average saving of EUR 9 per trade from this. Treat the number as marketing - it depends entirely on order size and instrument - but the mechanism is genuine and it is the clearest thing that separates justTRADE from single-venue rivals such as finanzen.net ZERO.
What is missing: no desktop application, no API, no demo account, no conditional or algorithmic orders, and no portfolio analytics worth the name.
Markets, products and the gaps that matter
The catalogue is respectable in some places and conspicuously empty in others.
What you can trade:
- Over 10,000 shares from roughly 52 countries, on LS Exchange, Quotrix and Tradegate BSX
- More than 1,800 ETFs, ETCs and ETPs from 13 providers including iShares, Vanguard, Amundi, DWS Xtrackers, VanEck and WisdomTree
- About 1.75 million certificates, warrants and knock-outs from seven direct-trading issuers
- 65+ crypto assets as real coins, plus roughly 90 crypto ETPs from issuers such as 21Shares and Valour
- wikifolio certificates, which package a named trader's strategy into a tradable security
- Around 290 savings plans, from EUR 25 a month
What you cannot trade:
- Individual bonds. Fixed income is only available in ETF form. For a broker aimed at long-term investors in a higher-rate environment, this is a real hole.
- Mutual funds. No fund platform, no front-load discounts, nothing.
- French, Italian, Spanish and Greek shares, including their ADRs, because of the financial transaction taxes those countries levy. Swiss shares are only tradable over the counter via Societe Generale.
- Options, futures, forex and CFDs. Nothing leveraged that is not packaged into a certificate.
The country exclusions deserve emphasis because they are silent until you go looking for a specific name. A European investor building a broad single-stock portfolio will find LVMH, Ferrari, Iberdrola and Inditex simply absent. If your strategy needs continental European blue chips beyond Germany and the Netherlands, this alone rules justTRADE out.
Order sizes are capped: EUR 100,000 per exchange purchase, EUR 100,000 for a direct-trading quote request (EUR 50,000 on limit orders), and EUR 25 to EUR 100,000 on crypto.
Account opening, funding and the citizenship wall
Opening is genuinely fast. You download the app, enter personal and employment details, identify yourself by video call, and justTRADE says the account is live in about ten minutes. There is no minimum deposit.
Then there is the wall. justTRADE currently opens accounts only for people who hold German citizenship and are tax resident in Germany. The FAQ is explicit that a German residence permit is not sufficient, and that both restrictions exist because the regulatory work for other nationalities and tax residencies has not been done. The company says an expansion is planned without naming a date.
This is a much harder gate than any competitor applies. finanzen.net ZERO accepts German, Austrian and Swiss tax residents. Smartbroker+ and Trade Republic serve broader European footprints. For a resident of Germany with, say, Italian or Turkish citizenship - a large population - justTRADE is simply not available.
Funding is SEPA bank transfer only. No cards, no PayPal, no e-wallets, and notably no SEPA instant credit transfer: Sutor Bank says a connection is planned but not live. A default daily transfer limit of EUR 10,000 is set at account opening and has to be changed with a paper form.
Withdrawals go back to the single registered reference account and are free. The one trap to know: sale proceeds are only transferable after T+2 settlement, even though they are immediately available to buy something else. Sell on Monday and the money leaves on Wednesday at the earliest.
Two more restrictions worth planning around: there is no incoming securities transfer - you cannot move an existing portfolio in - and there are no joint accounts, no junior accounts and no VL (vermoegenswirksame Leistungen) products. Transfers out, by contrast, are free.
The tax question: does justTRADE handle Abgeltungsteuer for you?
For a German investor this is usually the decisive question, and the answer here is a clean yes.
Because Sutor Bank is a German bank, it acts as the withholding agent (auszahlende Stelle) for the full German capital-gains regime. In practice that means:
- Abgeltungsteuer at 25% plus solidarity surcharge, and church tax where applicable, is deducted automatically from realised gains, dividends and interest and paid straight to the tax office. Nothing lands in your annual return by surprise.
- justTRADE runs loss offsetting before it calculates the tax, using the separate Verlusttoepfe for shares and for other instruments, so gains and losses inside the year net off automatically.
- The Freistellungsauftrag (the EUR 1,000 per person tax allowance) can be lodged directly, and unused allowance is applied at source.
- The cost basis used for tax is the FIFO figure from the bank's tax engine, not the blended average price shown in the portfolio view for performance purposes - a distinction the FAQ makes explicitly and that trips people up elsewhere.
- The Jahressteuerbescheinigung is delivered free to the secure mailbox around March or April, and a Verlustbescheinigung at year end is also free.
The practical consequence: a German investor with a single justTRADE account and no foreign brokerage generally does not need to enter anything in the Anlage KAP at all. That is the whole appeal of a domestic bank-backed broker over a foreign one, and it is worth more to most people than a euro of commission.
The area justTRADE does not solve is crypto taxation. Coins are not securities under German law; gains are private sale transactions taxed under section 23 EStG with a one-year holding period, and the bank does not withhold on them. Crypto gains stay your job to declare.
Research, education and support
Research is the thinnest part of the offering and justTRADE does not pretend otherwise. There is no in-house analyst team, no target prices, no screener worth the name, and no fundamental data beyond the basics on an instrument page. Free real-time push prices for all nine venues are included, which is more than some rivals give away, but that is data, not analysis.
The workaround is stock3, the professional platform formerly known as Guidants. It carries charting, screening, news flow, expert commentary and analysis tools, and orders placed there route into your justTRADE account. If research matters to you, this integration is the reason to be here rather than at a single-venue neobroker - but it is a third-party product you have to learn separately.
Education is a blog, a podcast (Boersentalk), a Wissen knowledge base covering ETFs, shares and crypto, and a webinar and newsletter programme. It is competent introductory material aimed at people who already decided to invest. There is no demo account, which for a broker courting beginners is a genuine omission.
Support is the weakest dimension in this record and the score reflects it. The published channels are email and the secure mailbox, in German, during business hours. There is no telephone hotline and no live chat - Finanztip confirms this and cites it among the reasons justTRADE lost its recommendation in mid-2025. Anything that needs a form (changing the transfer limit, submitting a loss certificate, reporting a death) goes by scan and email.
For a self-directed investor placing a few orders a month this is survivable. If something goes wrong during a fast market, or a corporate action is booked incorrectly, having no way to reach a human in real time is exactly when it hurts most.
Frequently asked questions
No, not for shares and ETFs. The price list dated 08.06.2026 sets the standard order commission at EUR 2.90, rebated to EUR 1.00 at LS Exchange and Tradegate BSX. Quotrix costs the full EUR 2.90. What remains genuinely free: savings plans on ETFs, ETCs and ETPs, and certificates and warrants traded with the four Gold partners (J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Vontobel). Parts of justtrade.com still say 'ab 0 EUR Orderprovision', which is true only in that narrow sense - read the Preis- und Leistungsverzeichnis, not the homepage.
Currently no. justTRADE's FAQ states that accounts are only opened for people holding German citizenship, and separately that only German tax residence is accepted. It says explicitly that a residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) is not sufficient. The company describes both restrictions as temporary and says it intends to widen them, but gives no date. If you hold another passport, finanzen.net ZERO (German, Austrian or Swiss tax residence) or Smartbroker+ are the practical alternatives.
Yes, for securities. Sutor Bank is a German bank and therefore the withholding agent: Abgeltungsteuer, solidarity surcharge and church tax are deducted at source, losses are offset within the year before tax is calculated, the Freistellungsauftrag is applied automatically, and the annual tax certificate and loss certificate are free. Most German investors with only a justTRADE account will have nothing to add to the Anlage KAP. Crypto is the exception: coins are taxed as private sale transactions under section 23 EStG and the bank does not withhold, so those gains remain your responsibility.
No. Incoming securities transfers are not supported - justTRADE does not accept a Depotuebertrag from another bank. That means switching to justTRADE involves selling your positions at the old broker, realising the tax, and rebuying. Outgoing transfers, by contrast, are free, so getting out later is easy. This asymmetry is one of the main reasons Finanztip removed justTRADE from its recommendation list in 2025.
Coins are real, not derivatives, and are held by Tangany GmbH in Munich, a BaFin-supervised crypto custodian, under a separate no-fee custody agreement. You cannot deposit coins from an external wallet and you cannot withdraw them to one - the wallet is closed, so you can only buy and sell inside justTRADE. Costs are 0.125% of order value plus the venue spread, minimum EUR 25 per order, with fractional trading to eight decimal places and no network fees. Note that no deposit guarantee or investor compensation scheme covers crypto assets.
That is the core feature. Instead of routing to a single venue, justTRADE shows live quotes from LS Exchange, Quotrix and Tradegate BSX side by side and flags the best one. You then place a quote-request order: the venue holds a firm price for a few seconds and you execute at exactly that price. There is no market order at justTRADE at all, which removes the risk of a surprise fill. Remember the commission differs by venue - EUR 1.00 at LS Exchange and Tradegate BSX, EUR 2.90 at Quotrix - so the best headline price is not always the cheapest total.
