Our verdict
Revolut Invest is a legitimate, regulated on-ramp rather than a brokerage account, and it should be judged on that basis. If you already bank with Revolut, want to buy a handful of US shares a month, and value being able to do it in three taps without opening a new relationship, it works: onboarding is genuinely excellent, there is no minimum, fractional dealing means EUR 50 buys a slice of anything, deposits and withdrawals are free and instant, and idle cash earns interest in three currencies. Stay inside your plan's free-trade allowance and the running cost is close to zero. You should not use it as your main investing account. The product range is the narrowest we cover — around 1,500 US stocks, three stock markets, a thin ETF list available only under the EEA entity, no options, futures or mutual funds — and above the free allowance you pay the greater of 0.25% and a EUR 1 minimum country fee, which still works out at 0.5% on a EUR 200 order. Currency conversion is free inside a monthly allowance — EUR 1,000 on Standard, EUR 3,000 on Plus — then 0.5% above it and a further 1% at weekends, and it matters because trading is dollar-denominated. Research is basic, education is effectively absent, there is no demo account, and support scored 1.1 out of 5 in independent testing, with no email channel at all. The EEA migration to Revolut Securities Europe UAB also cut investor protection from a EUR 100,000 deposit guarantee to a EUR 22,000 compensation ceiling plus a shared SIPC pool. Start here; do not finish here.

Pros & cons
Pros
8- Fastest account opening of any broker we cover: six in-app steps, no minimum deposit, verified in about a business day
- Free trades inside the plan allowance — 1 a month on the free Standard plan, up to 10 on Metal and Ultra
- No custody fee, no inactivity fee and no withdrawal fee on the investment account
- Fractional shares from small amounts, so EUR 50 buys a slice of any covered US stock
- Free and instant funding by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, with roughly one-business-day bank withdrawals
- Pays interest on uninvested USD, EUR and GBP cash, tiered by plan and rated above average against 100-plus brokers
- Banking licences in the UK and Lithuania sit behind the group, alongside FCA and Bank of Lithuania oversight
- The minimum country fee is only EUR 1 in Germany and GBP 0.01 under the UK entity, and recurring ETP buy orders are exempt from it
Cons
6- Narrowest product range of any broker we cover: about 1,500 US stocks, three stock markets, no options, futures or mutual funds
- Above the free allowance every order costs at least the EUR 1 minimum country fee, so a EUR 200 purchase still pays 0.5%
- Trading is USD-denominated, and once the monthly exchange allowance is spent (EUR 1,000 on Standard) conversion costs 0.5%, plus 1% more at weekends
- Customer service scored 1.1 out of 5 in independent testing — no email channel, pre-recorded phone menus, slow chat
- No demo account, no structured education and only basic in-app research; education rated 1.0 out of 5
- EEA clients moved from a EUR 100,000 deposit guarantee to EUR 22,000 investor compensation plus a shared SIPC pool

| Stocks (per order) | 0.25 % | Minimum: €1 — Trades inside the monthly plan allowance are free (1 on Standard, 3 on Plus, 5 on Premium, 10 on Metal and Ultra). Above the allowance the charge is the greater of 0.25% of order value (0.12% on Ultra and Trading Pro) and the minimum country fee, which is EUR 1 in Germany; recurring ETP buy orders carry no minimum country fee. Under the UK entity, Revolut Trading Ltd, the minimum fee is GBP 0.01. Figures are otherwise for the EEA entity, Revolut Securities Europe UAB. |
| US stocks | 0.25 % | Minimum: €1 — 0.25% once the monthly free-trade allowance is used up, or 0.12% on Ultra and Trading Pro, subject to the minimum country fee. That minimum follows your country of residence rather than the execution currency — it stays EUR 1 for an EEA client even though the US order itself is executed in dollars. Trading is USD-denominated, so a euro balance must be converted first at the currency-exchange rate. |

Cash equity, ETF and bond trading is unleveraged. Where stock and index CFDs are offered they are subject to ESMA retail leverage caps (20:1 on major indices, 5:1 on single equities); Revolut does not publish its own headline maximum. CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage.

Full review: Revolut Invest
Fees and what they cost in practice
Revolut's pricing is built around a subscription, not a commission schedule, and that changes how you should model it. Every plan includes a monthly allowance of commission-free stock trades: 1 on Standard (free), 3 on Plus, 5 on Premium, 10 on Metal and 10 on Ultra. Stay inside the allowance and trading is genuinely free.
Go past it and you pay the greater of 0.25% of order value and the minimum country fee, which is EUR 1 in Germany. Ultra and Trading Pro subscribers pay 0.12%. That minimum follows your country of residence rather than the market you trade, so it stays at EUR 1 on a US order placed from an EEA account, and under the UK entity, Revolut Trading Ltd, it is only GBP 0.01. Recurring ETP buy orders carry no minimum country fee at all. The minimum still dominates small tickets: a EUR 200 purchase above the allowance costs EUR 1, or 0.5% of the trade, where the percentage alone would be EUR 0.50.
The cost most people miss is currency conversion. Revolut's investing product is dollar-denominated, so a euro balance must be exchanged before you can place a US order, and there is no auto-conversion at order placement — you do it manually. On weekdays, from 6 p.m. New York time on Sunday to 5 p.m. on Friday, exchanges inside the plan allowance carry no markup at all: EUR 1,000 a month on Standard and EUR 3,000 on Plus, unlimited on Premium, Metal and Ultra. Above the allowance a 0.5% fair-usage fee applies — on the EUR 1,000 of a EUR 2,000 purchase that sits above a Standard limit, about EUR 5 — as much again as the EUR 5 commission the same order costs once the free-trade allowance is used up. At the weekend an additional 1% applies, which makes Saturday the most expensive time to fund a trade.
Spot crypto starts at 1.49% per order for Standard and Plus below EUR/GBP 10,000 of 30-day volume, falling to 1.29%, 1.09%, 0.89% and 0.49% at 10k, 50k, 100k and 250k; Premium and Metal begin at 0.99% and Ultra at 0.49%. A banded minimum runs alongside the percentage — 50% of the trade value below EUR/GBP 2, then 0.99 up to 5, 1.49 up to 25, 1.99 up to 100, 2.49 up to 150 and 2.99 up to 200 — and you pay whichever of the two is higher, so very small buys are punitive. Since 24 March 2025 the service has been provided by Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd under CySEC registration CASP 001/2025. At the entry tier this is expensive against both dedicated exchanges and broker rivals.
What you do not pay is real and worth stating: no custody fee (Revolut removed the annual custody charge), no inactivity fee, no withdrawal fee, no deposit fee and no minimum deposit. Against a traditional bank broker that is a large structural saving. Two exit charges are easy to miss, though: moving an instrument to a third-party platform costs USD 35 per position, and ADRs carry pass-through fees of roughly USD 0.01–0.05 per share, charged once a year.
The honest summary: cheap if you make one or two trades a month on a plan you already hold for banking reasons, and merely average once you trade more, convert beyond your euro allowance, or pay EUR 65 a month for Ultra.
Safety and regulation
Which entity holds your investment account depends on where you live, and for EEA clients this changed recently in a way that matters.
EEA clients contract with Revolut Securities Europe UAB, a Lithuanian firm (company code 305799582, Konstitucijos ave. 21B, Vilnius) holding a Category A financial brokerage firm licence from the Bank of Lithuania, valid since 22 November 2021. UK clients contract with Revolut Trading Ltd under FCA authorisation, with FSCS cover up to GBP 85,000.
The EEA migration is the single most important disclosure here. Investing clients were moved from Revolut Bank UAB to Revolut Securities Europe UAB, and in the process protection changed from a EUR 100,000 deposit guarantee to a EUR 22,000 investor compensation ceiling, with US securities sitting under a shared USD 500,000 SIPC pool across all RSEUAB accounts rather than individual per-client cover. That is a materially weaker position than most EEA investors had before, and Revolut does not lead with it.
The rest of the picture is solid. The group holds banking licences in Lithuania (ECB-supervised, via Revolut Bank UAB) and in the UK (granted July 2024), which brings prudential oversight that pure brokers do not carry. Client assets are segregated, there is no leverage on the cash investing product, and US order execution has historically run through DriveWealth, a FINRA-regulated broker.
Two caveats close the section. Revolut is privately held — there is no public listing and no continuous market disclosure, so you take the company's word on stability in a way you do not with a listed broker. And the group's public reputation carries a persistent thread of complaints about account freezes and restrictions, which is a banking-side issue but affects the same balance you invest from. Regulated and legitimate, yes. Guaranteed safe, no — no broker is.
Trading platforms
Revolut is mobile-first in the strictest sense: the app is the product, and the investing experience is a tab inside the banking app rather than a separate platform.
As a mobile app it is very good. Independent testers rate it around 4.4 out of 5. It is localised into 24 languages, uses biometric login with a six-digit passcode, and includes a genuinely capable Advanced Search with filters for industry, market capitalisation and price level — better than you would expect at this price point. Price alerts, watchlists and fractional dealing all work cleanly, and placing a trade takes a couple of taps.
Two platform limitations are material. First, there is no two-step authentication on login — biometrics plus a passcode is the ceiling, which is below the standard at most brokers holding investable assets. Second, order validity is limited: you get market, limit, stop and (jurisdiction-dependent) out-of-hours orders, but no good-till-cancelled or good-till-date validity. For buy-and-hold that is irrelevant. For anyone leaving working orders in the market it is a wall.
The web app exists and mirrors the account, but it is clearly secondary — Revolut has not built a desktop trading experience for the mainstream tiers. The exception is Trading Terminal, a TradingView-powered charting and order interface reserved for Ultra and Trading Pro subscribers. It is the analysis layer the standard app lacks, but it sits behind the most expensive plan.
There is no API, no third-party platform bridge and no demo account, so your first order is placed with real money on a live market.
Markets and products
This is Revolut's weakest dimension by a wide margin, and it is the reason the platform is a starting point rather than a destination.
Stocks: roughly 1,500 US names across NYSE, Nasdaq and IEX, with UK and German listings added more recently — three stock markets in total. Fractional dealing is available, which softens the narrowness for small investors. IPOs typically become available around two weeks after listing, so this is not a route to day-one allocations.
ETFs: available only to clients onboarded under Revolut Securities Europe UAB and not under the UK entity. The range is narrow relative to a dedicated broker, and reviewers regularly report that a specific accumulating UCITS share class is missing. If a particular core fund is central to your plan, verify it exists before committing.
Bonds: Revolut has extended bond investing across EEA markets, part of a broader push past 3,000 total assets. The range is limited and Revolut does not publish a headline bond commission, so we have not recorded one.
Crypto: 200-plus tokens, priced at 1.49% per spot order. This is the deepest part of the product, and it is expensive.
Commodities: gold and silver positions are available inside the app.
CFDs: stock and index CFDs are offered to eligible clients under the EEA entity, with an example index spread around 0.3 points on the S&P 500 and stock CFD spreads around 0.25%. Availability varies by country and CFDs are complex instruments that come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage.
Not offered anywhere: options, futures, mutual funds, retail forex and spread betting.
The shape is clear. Revolut has built a starter kit — enough to buy popular US stocks and crypto on a phone — and stopped. Anyone who needs a specific ETF, a bond ladder, an options overlay or a non-US market will hit the boundary quickly.
Account opening and funding
Account opening is the best thing about Revolut Invest and it is not close. Independent testers score it 5 out of 5.
If you already have the Revolut app, the flow is six steps inside it: open the Invest tab, tap Start Trading, add nationality and tax number, answer a short set of financial questions on employment status, income and objectives, then accept the user and market-data agreements. Verification typically completes within one business day. There is no minimum deposit — move a few euros across from your banking balance and you can trade.
There is one account structure, not several. You choose a subscription plan, not an account type: in Germany, Standard (free), Plus (EUR 2.99), Premium (EUR 8.99), Metal (EUR 15.99) and Ultra (EUR 65) a month, while the same plans under the UK entity cost GBP 3.99, 7.99, 14.99 and 55. Pricing varies by country. The plan changes your free-trade allowance, your cash-interest tier and your currency-exchange allowance — nothing else. There are no joint, corporate, ISA or pension accounts, which rules the platform out for a large slice of long-term savers.
Funding is excellent. Free deposits and free withdrawals, instant top-ups by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and bank withdrawals landing in about one business day in independent testing. The app supports around 36 currencies as banking balances.
The friction is the USD-only trading requirement: even with 36 currencies available, you must manually convert to dollars before placing an order — free inside the monthly plan allowance, 0.5% above it and 1% more at weekends. There is no automatic conversion at order placement. Testers have also reported funds occasionally being held for several days after an order is cancelled, which is unusual and worth knowing if you trade actively.
Stock trading is not offered in every country where Revolut's banking service operates, so check availability in your market before assuming access.
Research and education
Research and education are the two lowest-scoring dimensions in this review, and the gap between Revolut and a proper broker here is not marginal — it is categorical.
Research inside the app is basic. Instrument pages carry a price chart, key statistics, a short company description and a news feed. There is no analyst research desk, no consensus price targets presented in depth, no screener beyond the search filters, no portfolio X-ray, no factor analysis and no fundamental data comparable to what Freedom24 or a full-service broker surfaces. The Advanced Search filters for industry, market cap and price level are the strongest research feature, and they are a discovery tool rather than an analysis tool. Trading Terminal, on Ultra and Trading Pro, adds TradingView charting — but that is a paid tier, not the default experience.
Education is effectively absent. Independent testers rate it 1.0 out of 5, the lowest score in their review. What exists is a set of platform tutorial videos explaining how to navigate the app. What does not exist: any demo account, any written educational library, any general investing videos, any webinars, any structured learning path. Competitors aimed at the identical audience — Trading 212 and eToro — do substantially more.
This is a real problem given who Revolut Invest attracts. The platform's whole design draws in people making their first investment, then gives them nothing to learn from and no risk-free environment to practise in. If you are new to investing, treat Revolut as an execution venue and get your education somewhere else — a broker whose only teaching material is a tour of its own buttons is not preparing you to make decisions about your money.
Customer support
Customer service is Revolut's most-criticised area and the evidence is consistent across independent testing and public sentiment. BrokerChooser's analysts scored it 1.1 out of 5, one of the lowest marks they award.
The channels look adequate on paper: in-app live chat, a chatbot and phone support, available 24/7. The reality reported by testers is worse than the list suggests. The chatbot handles simple factual questions well — which stocks are available, what order types exist. Beyond that, live chat is slow with unclear answers, phone support delivers pre-recorded responses rather than a live agent for anything specific, and there is no email channel at all, which is a standard route most brokers provide and Revolut simply does not.
Public sentiment reinforces the pattern. The most common complaints across review platforms are account restrictions and unexplained freezes and slow, automation-heavy support. Those are banking-side issues, but they land on the same balance your investments are funded from, and getting a frozen account unblocked is exactly the situation where a pre-recorded phone menu is least useful.
Language coverage is broad — the app is localised into 24 languages — but localisation of the interface is not the same as staffed support in your language, and complex escalations tend to funnel toward English.
The practical read is straightforward. If you invest a small amount monthly and never need help, support quality is a theoretical concern. If you hold a meaningful balance, or if a corporate action, a tax statement or a blocked transfer needs a human being to look at it, this is the single strongest argument for holding your core portfolio somewhere else and keeping Revolut for pocket-money investing.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. In the EEA your investment account is held by Revolut Securities Europe UAB, which holds a Category A financial brokerage firm licence from the Bank of Lithuania issued in November 2021. UK clients are served by Revolut Trading Ltd under FCA authorisation with FSCS cover up to GBP 85,000. The group also holds banking licences in Lithuania and, since July 2024, the UK. It is a regulated broker — but it is a narrow one, with no options, futures or mutual funds and only three stock markets.
Nothing inside your plan's monthly allowance: 1 free stock trade on Standard, 3 on Plus, 5 on Premium, 10 on Metal and Ultra. Above the allowance you pay the greater of 0.25% of order value and the minimum country fee, which is EUR 1 in Germany and GBP 0.01 under the UK entity, or 0.12% on Ultra and Trading Pro. Recurring ETP buy orders have no minimum country fee. Currency conversion comes on top because trading is dollar-denominated: free inside the monthly plan allowance, 0.5% above it and 1% more at weekends. On a EUR 200 German order above the allowance the EUR 1 minimum works out at 0.5% of the trade.
EUR 22,000 under the Lithuanian investor compensation scheme, plus a shared USD 500,000 SIPC pool across all Revolut Securities Europe UAB accounts for US-held securities — not individual per-client cover. This is the result of the migration from Revolut Bank UAB to the securities entity, which replaced a EUR 100,000 deposit guarantee. If your portfolio is larger than that, the shortfall in protection is a genuine reason to hold your core holdings at a broker with individual cover.
Only if your account sits under Revolut Securities Europe UAB, the EEA entity. ETFs are not offered under the UK entity, Revolut Trading Ltd. Even where available, the ETF range is narrow relative to a dedicated broker and reviewers regularly find that a specific accumulating UCITS share class is missing. If a particular core fund is central to your strategy, check that exact ISIN in the app before you commit, because moving positions out later is not always straightforward.
No. There is no paper-trading or practice mode, so your first order is placed with real money in a live market. Combined with education rated 1.0 out of 5 by independent testers — platform tutorial videos and essentially nothing else — that makes Revolut a weak choice for a genuine beginner who wants to learn before committing capital, despite being an easy one to start with.
Independent testing scored it 1.1 out of 5. The chatbot answers simple questions well and coverage is 24/7, but live chat is slow with unclear responses, phone support plays pre-recorded menus rather than connecting a live agent for specific queries, and there is no email channel at all. Public sentiment adds a persistent thread of account restrictions and unexplained freezes. If you expect to need substantive help with your money, this is the strongest argument against making Revolut your main investing account.
