Risk warning: CFDs and leveraged products are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly. Investments can fall in value. Past performance is not an indicator of future results.

Our verdict
BlackBull Markets is a well-built broker with a badly aimed safety story, and how you weigh those two determines whether it belongs on your shortlist. The build quality is real: LMAX as the liquidity backbone, Equinix-hosted servers, sub-100ms average execution, and a platform lineup — MT4, MT5, cTrader, native TradingView, in-house CopyTrader and the separate BlackBull Invest share platform — that comfortably beats most brokers this size. Pricing on Prime is competitive — USD 3 per lot per side over an EUR/USD spread averaging 0.16 pips, about USD 7.60 all-in on a standard-lot round turn — there is no minimum deposit at all, and the 24/7 support with WhatsApp lines is genuinely responsive. The commission-free ECN Standard tier is the weaker half of the range: EUR/USD averaged 1.16 pips over the twelve months to October 2025, roughly USD 11.60 a round turn, so the advertised floor of 0.8 pips is not what most clients actually pay. A minority investment from Milford Asset Management, a NZ$34bn manager, is a credibility signal most offshore-adjacent brokers cannot offer. Now the other side. Neither entity carries any investor compensation scheme: New Zealand has none and the Seychelles has none, so if the firm fails there is no fund to claim against — only segregation. BlackBull does not publish which countries are onboarded to which entity. Its audited accounts reach the New Zealand register once a year and nowhere else, so there is none of the running disclosure a listed broker owes. It charges USD 5 on every single withdrawal, which is close to unique among its peers and quietly expensive if you draw down regularly. Card and e-wallet withdrawals are capped at what you deposited, forcing profits out by bank transfer. And for a DACH-first reader the decisive fact is simply this: BlackBull's own disclosure says the offering is not intended for EU or UK residents, so German and Austrian traders cannot open an account. Swiss residents can, and for them this is a credible if imperfect option.
Best for
- Active forex and CFD traders
- cTrader and TradingView users
- Copy traders
- Traders with no minimum capital
- Swiss and non-EU clients wanting high leverage
Less suitable for
- German, Austrian and UK residents
- Investors who need compensation-scheme cover
- Anyone who withdraws frequently in small amounts
- Research-driven traders
Pros & cons
Pros
8- No minimum deposit at all — every account tier including Prime opens from USD 0
- Prime pricing of USD 3.00 per lot per side with EUR/USD averaging 0.16 pips — about USD 7.60 all-in on a standard-lot round turn
- Platform range beats brokers many times its size: MT4, MT5, cTrader, native TradingView, in-house CopyTrader, ZuluTrade and Myfxbook
- LMAX ECN liquidity into Equinix-hosted servers with sub-100ms average execution — genuine institutional plumbing rather than marketing language
- 24/7 support across phone, email, live chat and dedicated English and Spanish WhatsApp lines, consistently praised in recent public feedback
- No inactivity fee, no custody fee, no account fee, and nine base currencies including NZD, SGD and ZAR
- Milford Asset Management, a NZ$34bn manager, holds a minority stake — an outside investor with reputational skin in the game
- BlackBull Invest adds real ownership of 26,000+ shares, options, ETFs and bonds alongside the leveraged accounts
Cons
7- No investor compensation scheme under either entity — New Zealand has none and the Seychelles has none, so segregation is the only protection if the firm fails
- USD 5 charged on every withdrawal, in the account base currency, which almost no direct competitor does; small or frequent withdrawals get expensive fast
- The commission-free ECN Standard tier is not the cheap option it looks like — EUR/USD averaged 1.16 pips over the twelve months to October 2025, about USD 11.60 per standard-lot round turn against USD 7.60 on Prime
- Not available to EU, UK or Indian residents by BlackBull's own disclosure, which rules it out for German and Austrian readers entirely
- BlackBull does not publish which countries are onboarded to which legal entity, so you may not know which regulator covers you until you read the agreement
- Research is thin — a hub of daily snapshots and a podcast, with no screener depth or serious analytical tooling
- Privately held with no banking licence and no exchange listing — audited accounts surface once a year on the New Zealand register and not in between; the credit ratings quoted on its compliance page are those of custodian banks, not of BlackBull

| Stocks (per order) | US$0.02/share | Share CFDs on the leveraged accounts cost USD 0.02 per share plus the spread. On an Apple CFD that worked out at about USD 0.247 all-in per share in independent July 2026 testing. Real share ownership is a separate product on BlackBull Invest, operated by Black Bull Trade Limited under a different fee schedule that we could not retrieve — see the fees section. |

| ETFs | n/a | There are no ETF CFDs on the MetaTrader, cTrader or TradingView accounts. ETFs are reachable only through BlackBull Invest, the separate share-investing platform that BlackBull says covers 26,000+ shares, options, ETFs and bonds. BlackBull publishes a Share Investing Fees page for that platform but its contents did not render for us, so no figure is recorded here. |
| Options (per contract) | n/a | No options on the leveraged CFD accounts. BlackBull lists options among the underlying assets on BlackBull Invest, but publishes no per-contract commission we could verify, so nothing is recorded. Do not assume options pricing is competitive without checking it directly. |
| Futures (per contract) | in the spread | Index futures and commodity futures are offered as CFDs on the futures contract rather than as exchange-cleared futures, with the cost inside the spread and no separate commission. There is no exchange-traded derivatives account here. |

BlackBull advertises leverage up to 1:500 across all three account tiers, with a margin call at 50% and a stop-out at 20%. That is far above the ESMA and FCA retail caps of 1:30 — which is precisely why the New Zealand offering is not directed at EU or UK residents. Leverage can be changed on an existing account, but only when no positions are open.

Full review: BlackBull Markets
Fees: cheap to trade, expensive to leave
BlackBull runs three tiers and, unusually, all three open from USD 0.
- ECN Standard — no commission; spreads advertised from 0.8 pips, measured at an average of 1.16 pips on EUR/USD
- ECN Prime — spreads from 0.0 pips plus USD 3.00 per lot per side (USD 6 round turn)
- Prime+ — the same 0.0-pip pricing as Prime, plus monthly volume-based commission rebates, fee-free withdrawals, priority support and VIP events
A twelve-month measurement to October 2025 put EUR/USD at 0.16 pips on Prime and 1.16 pips on the commission-free ECN Standard; independent testing in July 2026 measured 0.2 on GBP/USD, 0.2 on AUD/USD, 0.2 on USD/JPY and 0.3 on USD/CAD. A standard-lot EUR/USD round turn therefore costs roughly USD 7.60 all-in on Prime — USD 1.60 of spread plus USD 6 of commission — against roughly USD 11.60 on Standard, where the entire cost sits in the spread. Prime is the cheaper account at any meaningful size, and the 0.8-pip floor advertised on Standard is not the average anyone trades at. Prime is competitive but not the cheapest available: Fusion Markets charges USD 2.25 per lot on comparable spreads.
Index CFDs are spread-only, and here BlackBull is weaker than its peers: S&P 500 measured at 0.6 points and Euro Stoxx 50 at 1.5, against 0.4 and 1.2 at IC Markets. Share CFDs cost USD 0.02 per share plus spread, working out to about USD 0.247 all-in on an Apple CFD. Crypto and commodity CFDs are spread-only.
The non-trading side is where BlackBull splits cleanly into good and bad. No inactivity fee, no custody fee, no account fee, no deposit fee, and a currency conversion mark-up measured at roughly 0.01% — all excellent.
Then there is the withdrawal fee. BlackBull charges USD 5, or 5 units of your account base currency, on every single withdrawal. Most direct competitors charge nothing. If you draw down monthly, that is USD 60 a year for the privilege of accessing your own money; if you draw down weekly it is over USD 250. Worse, card, Skrill, FasaPay, Neteller and UnionPay withdrawals are capped at the amount you deposited by that method, so any profit has to leave by bank transfer — potentially a second fee from your own bank. Prime+ members escape the charge entirely, which tells you BlackBull knows it is a friction point.
Swap-free accounts are available across all tiers but carry administrative fees, and BlackBull explicitly reserves the right to revoke swap-free status if it suspects misuse.
Safety and regulation: read this before funding
This is the section that should drive your decision, and it is the weakest part of BlackBull's proposition.
BlackBull operates through three companies:
- Black Bull Group Limited — New Zealand company number 5463921, NZBN 9429041417799, registered at Level 20, 188 Quay Street, Auckland. Registered on the Financial Service Providers Register as FSP403326 and a member of the Financial Services Complaints Limited dispute resolution scheme (participant number 5623). Independent reviewers classify this entity as supervised by New Zealand's Financial Markets Authority.
- BBG Limited — Seychelles company 857010-1, licensed by the Seychelles FSA under SD045 for investment services.
- Black Bull Trade Limited — New Zealand, NZBN 9429049891041, FSP1002113, which runs the BlackBull Invest share platform.
Neither entity carries an investor compensation scheme. New Zealand does not operate one; the Seychelles does not operate one. If BlackBull failed, your recourse would be to segregated client money and an insolvency process, not to a fund like the UK's FSCS or the EU's ICF. That is a materially weaker position than at an FCA- or CySEC-regulated broker, and it is the single most important fact on this page.
Two further disclosure issues are worth naming. First, BlackBull does not publish which countries are onboarded to which entity, so a prospective client cannot easily tell in advance whether they will sit under New Zealand or Seychelles supervision. Second, BlackBull's compliance page lists credit ratings — S&P AA-, Fitch A+, Moody's A1, as at June 2022 — under a "Security of Client Funds" heading. Those are the ratings of the banks holding client money, not of BlackBull itself. The framing is misleading even if the underlying fact is reassuring.
On the positive side: client funds are segregated, negative balance protection applies, accounts are filed annually with the New Zealand Companies Office, the company has traded since 2014 across more than 180 countries, and a growth equity fund managed by Milford Asset Management — a NZ and Australian manager with over NZ$34bn under management — has taken a minority stake. An institutional investor conducting its own diligence is a genuine, if indirect, credibility signal.
BlackBull discloses that 74–89% of retail CFD accounts lose money, and does not accept clients from Canada or the United States. Its New Zealand offering is explicitly not intended for residents of the EU, the UK or India — which is why German and Austrian readers should stop here and look at an ESMA-regulated alternative.
Platforms: the strongest thing about this broker
If BlackBull's safety story is its weakness, its technology stack is its case for existing.
MetaTrader 4 and 5 cover the mainstream, with Expert Advisors, hedging and scalping all permitted, and independent testing scoring the MT4 desktop client 3.4/5 with the standard complaints — dated design, no two-step login, alerts only configurable from desktop.
cTrader is the better platform for anyone who wants a real order book: level II depth, cBots for automation and an interface built this decade rather than last.
TradingView integration is native, meaning you trade the BlackBull account straight from TradingView's charts. BlackBull has periodically run promotions giving funded clients free TradingView subscriptions. For chart-driven traders this is a stronger workflow than anything MetaTrader offers.
BlackBull CopyTrader is the in-house copy-trading platform — follow strategy providers or publish your own — alongside integrations with ZuluTrade and Myfxbook AutoTrade, two established third-party networks. Few brokers this size run all three.
BlackBull Invest is the separate share-investing arm, operated by Black Bull Trade Limited, which BlackBull says gives access to 26,000+ shares, options, ETFs and bonds as real holdings rather than CFDs. It is the reason the group can advertise "26k+ tradable assets" — the leveraged accounts on their own carry roughly 1,200 instruments.
Underneath all of it sits the execution infrastructure, and this is not marketing filler. BlackBull uses LMAX — a genuine institutional ECN — as a liquidity source, hosts its servers in Equinix data centres in London and NY4, and publishes an average execution time under 100 milliseconds. VPS hosting, an economic calendar and trading calculators round out the toolkit. For a broker with no minimum deposit, the plumbing is markedly better than the price point implies.
Mobile is the weak spot. The MetaTrader mobile clients and the BlackBull Client Portal app are functional and well laid out, but testing found no two-step and no biometric login and no ability to set price alerts from the phone.
Markets and products
BlackBull advertises 26,000+ tradable instruments across all its entities and platforms, and that number needs unpacking, because the leveraged accounts carry far fewer.
Measured on the CFD accounts in July 2026:
| Asset class | Count |
|---|---|
| Currency pairs | 80 |
| Share CFDs | 1,138 |
| Crypto CFDs | 27 |
| Stock index CFDs | 15 |
| Commodity CFDs | 11 |
| ETF CFDs | none |
| Bond CFDs | none |
BlackBull's own marketing describes 70+ currency pairs covering majors, minors and exotics, 40 digital assets including BTC, ETH, XRP and DOGE, energy and agricultural commodities, precious and industrial metals, and equities across US, UK, German, French and Irish listings. Index and commodity futures are offered as CFDs on the futures contract, not as exchange-cleared contracts — there is no exchange-traded derivatives account here, which is a real difference from brokers like Tickmill that offer both.
The remaining 25,000 instruments live on BlackBull Invest, the separate share-investing platform, which covers shares, options, ETFs and bonds as genuine holdings. That platform materially widens what a BlackBull relationship can do — but it runs under a different legal entity, a different fee schedule and a different account, so it is not simply "more instruments on the same login". BlackBull publishes a Share Investing Fees page for it; the contents did not render for us at the time of writing, so no pricing is recorded in this profile.
Leverage runs to 1:500 on all three CFD tiers, with a margin call at 50% and a stop-out at 20%. Leverage can be adjusted on an existing account provided no positions are open. Swap-free variants are available across the range, subject to administrative fees.
The honest summary of product range: strong on FX and share CFDs, thin on indices, commodities, fixed income and ETFs on the leveraged side, and genuinely broad only if you also open the separate Invest account.
Account opening, funding and who can actually open one
Onboarding is fast and well-executed. The online application takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes across seven steps: ownership type (individual, joint or company), personal details and source of income, then account type, base currency and leverage, then identity and address documents, email confirmation, credentials, and funding. Passport, driving licence or national ID work for identity; bank statements and utility bills for address. Accounts are usually approved within one business day, and there is no minimum deposit on any tier. BlackBull also runs a short suitability quiz to steer clients to an appropriate account type.
Funding options are unusually numerous: bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard and AMEX, plus Neteller, Skrill, China UnionPay, FasaPay, AIRTM, HexoPay, POLi, PaymentAsia, Help2Pay, FXPay, Boleto, Beeteller and AstroPay, with availability depending on jurisdiction. Nine base currencies are supported: USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, NZD, SGD, CAD, JPY and ZAR. Deposits are free and generally instant by card or wallet. Withdrawals took about one business day in testing.
Two funding rules cost money. First, the USD 5 per withdrawal charge described in the fees section. Second, card, Skrill, FasaPay, Neteller and UnionPay withdrawals are capped at the amount you deposited via that method, which is a standard anti-money-laundering control but means profits must exit by bank transfer — often with a fee from your own bank on top of BlackBull's.
Who can actually open an account matters more than any of this. BlackBull does not accept clients from Canada or the United States, or from OFAC-sanctioned countries. And its own disclosure states that the offering is not intended for residents of the European Union, the United Kingdom or India. For a DACH audience that is decisive: German and Austrian residents cannot use BlackBull Markets. Swiss residents can — Switzerland sits outside the EU and BlackBull is available there — which makes this a Switzerland-relevant broker but not a Germany-relevant one.
For Swiss clients the tax picture is the usual one for a foreign broker: BlackBull withholds nothing, issues no Swiss tax statement, and every position has to be reported in your own Wertschriftenverzeichnis. Swiss capital gains on private wealth are generally tax-free, but frequent leveraged trading risks reclassification as commercial trading (gewerbsmässiger Wertschriftenhandel), which changes the treatment entirely. That is a question for a Swiss tax adviser, not a broker comparison site.
Research, education and support
BlackBull's research and education split sharply in quality.
Research is the thinner half. There is a Research Hub with a daily market analysis snapshot, an "upcoming trading opportunities" feed, a daily insights podcast and separate trading and investment research sections, plus an economic calendar, trading calculators and Autochartist-style pattern tools. Independent review scored the research offering as basic, and that is fair: there is no serious screener, no fundamental data depth, and no analyst whose work you would seek out for its own sake. If your process depends on research, you will be supplying it yourself.
Education is genuinely good, and independent testing singled it out as a strength. The Education Hub runs tiered tutorial tracks — beginner, intermediate and advanced — separately for forex, commodities, crypto and stocks, which is a more thoughtful structure than the usual undifferentiated article dump. Each of the four platforms gets its own tutorial series, there is a dedicated set on using AI in trading across TradingView, cTrader, MT4 and MT5, and regular webinars run alongside. Combined with a free demo account, it is a credible on-ramp for someone genuinely starting out.
Support is a standout. BlackBull runs 24/7 client support — not 24/5 — across phone, email, live chat and dedicated WhatsApp lines in English (+64 210 905 7208) and Spanish, plus a New Zealand freephone number and direct Spanish-language phone support. Coverage spans English, Spanish, Thai, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Uzbek. Aggregated public feedback from May to August 2026 makes fast, helpful support the most commonly praised aspect of the broker, which is unusual in this sector, where support is normally the loudest complaint.
The complaints that do recur are about money rather than people: fees — specifically the withdrawal charge, card fees and swaps — are the single biggest gripe, followed by occasional execution issues, spread spikes and slippage at busy times, and a smaller thread about uneven follow-up on unresolved problems. Read alongside the fee schedule, that pattern is consistent: BlackBull is pleasant to deal with and mildly annoying to take money out of.
Frequently asked questions
No. BlackBull's own disclosure states that its offering is not intended for residents of the European Union, the United Kingdom or India, and it does not accept clients from Canada or the United States either. German and Austrian traders should look at brokers operating under an FCA, BaFin or CySEC licence instead, where ESMA leverage caps and an investor compensation scheme both apply. Swiss residents are a different case: Switzerland is outside the EU and BlackBull is available there, so a Swiss trader can open an account — subject to the same no-compensation caveat that applies to everyone.
Yes. USD 5, or five units of whichever base currency your account is denominated in, on every withdrawal request. It is one of very few brokers in its peer group that does this — IC Markets, Pepperstone, Tickmill and FP Markets all offer free withdrawals on the main methods. If you take money out monthly that is around USD 60 a year; weekly, over USD 250. Prime+ members get fee-free withdrawals as part of the rebate programme. Note also that card, Skrill, FasaPay, Neteller and UnionPay withdrawals are capped at the amount you deposited by that method, so profits must be withdrawn by bank transfer.
None, in the compensation-scheme sense, and this is the most important thing to understand before funding an account. Black Bull Group Limited operates in New Zealand, which has no investor compensation scheme, and BBG Limited operates in the Seychelles under FSA licence SD045, which has none either. If the firm failed, your recourse would be to segregated client money and an insolvency process, not a payout fund. What you do get is segregation of client funds, negative balance protection, annual filings with the New Zealand Companies Office and access to the Financial Services Complaints Limited dispute scheme (participant 5623). That is meaningfully weaker than FSCS or ICF cover.
For most traders, Prime. All three tiers open from USD 0, so the minimum deposit is not a differentiator. Standard charges no commission but advertises from 0.8 pips and averaged 1.16 pips on EUR/USD over the twelve months to October 2025; Prime charges USD 3.00 per lot per side with spreads from 0.0 pips, averaging 0.16 pips on EUR/USD. On a standard lot, Prime costs roughly USD 7.60 all-in against roughly USD 11.60 in spread on Standard — and the gap widens as you trade more size. Standard only makes sense for micro positions where a flat commission is proportionally heavy. Prime+ is Prime with volume-based monthly rebates, fee-free withdrawals and priority support, and is worth asking about if you trade meaningful volume.
No. BlackBull Invest is a separate share-investing platform operated by a different legal entity, Black Bull Trade Limited (NZBN 9429049891041, FSP1002113), covering what BlackBull describes as 26,000+ shares, options, ETFs and bonds as real holdings rather than CFDs. That is where the group's headline instrument count comes from — the leveraged CFD accounts carry roughly 1,200 instruments between them. Because it is a separate account under a separate entity with its own fee schedule, do not assume the pricing or the protections mirror the CFD side. BlackBull publishes a Share Investing Fees page for it; check it directly before opening one.
The infrastructure claims are more substantial than most. BlackBull uses LMAX — a genuine institutional ECN — as a liquidity source, hosts its trading servers in Equinix data centres in London and NY4, and publishes an average execution time under 100 milliseconds. Independently measured spreads back that up on the Prime account: 0.16 pips on EUR/USD over the twelve months to October 2025, and 0.2 on GBP/USD, AUD/USD and USD/JPY in July 2026 testing. The commission-free Standard account is a different picture, averaging 1.16 pips on EUR/USD. The caveat comes from user reports, which mention spread spikes and slippage at busy times and around news — a normal characteristic of variable-spread ECN pricing, but worth knowing if you scalp around data releases. Index CFD spreads are noticeably wider than peers at 0.6 on the S&P 500.
